The Vision

A diverse group of 10 cyclists will complete a three-week bikepacking journey on the 550-mile Bay Area Ridge Trail.

While riding, they will engage in challenging and entertaining discussions about access to public lands, equality and inclusion in the outdoors, and other issues that impact the way people interact with the natural world.

We will share those discussions through film, YouTube, and social media. We don’t want economic challenges to be a reason not to participate.

We will compensate riders for their time, in an effort to reduce the barriers to join.

Bonus..! We’ll outfit you with top-tier gear and training resources

The Objective

Our goal is to make content that is enjoyable for all - not just cyclists.  We intend to mitigate the adventure gap by engaging new audiences, BIPOC communities, and folks who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be part of this experience.

Inspire

people to get outside, especially those individuals who don’t see themselves represented in the outdoor adventure landscape.

Deepen Awareness

to the inequities and barriers in the outdoor access space and foster solution-oriented conversations.

Generate Goodwill

and advocacy for agencies and organizations that provide and manage publicly accessible land.

Key Messaging

1

The outdoors is for everybody (and every body).

You don’t need to be an extreme athlete or expert in order to enjoy the benefits of being outside.

2

Being outdoors is healthy for mind and body.

When people engage in activities and challenges outdoors which push their mind and body, they feel happier, healthier, and are more physically and mentally equpped to contribute to the well-being of our communities.

3

The Bay Area offers amazing access to a variety of trails and open spaces.

There is more work to be done in order to have equitable and connected access.

4

These landscapes provide many benefits.

The landscapes we enjoy for recreational purposes are also critical for natural resources, cultural resources, climate change resilience, and water supply benefits.
